The Engineering Supervisor reports to the Engineering Manager and works within the Engineering Department to lead the design and continuous improvement of assigned Data Center Air Handling Unit cooling products. The role involves supervising designers and engineers to deliver high‑quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Directly manage a team of 2‑4 engineers and 1‑2 CAD designers, overseeing project assignment and work progress. Set clear expectations, assign tasks, and ensure the team delivers high‑quality results.
Lead engineering launch activities for awarded business, including completion of customer submittals, release of design and drawings for prototypes and production, and successful completion of all customer and regulatory testing for field acceptance.
Lead preliminary design for cost estimating and quoting new business, responsible for engineering NRE, validation expenses, and should‑cost estimates for materials.
Lead the change request and deviation process to address immediate manufacturing concerns, managing from conception to implementation.
Contribute to VA/VE initiatives to reduce product cost and improve manufacturability of responsible products.
Address customer field concerns by developing engineered solutions to solve the issue and prevent recurrence.
Evaluate and design electromechanical products applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
Interface with Modine regions, manufacturing locations, suppliers, and customers.
Support team member development through training, mentorship, and performance management, fostering a culture of continuous learning and career growth.
Travel domestically or internationally up to 25%.
Required Education & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline with a minimum of 5 years of progressive engineering experience, or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of engineering experience.
Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA in good standing.
Strong foundational knowledge and practical experience in HVAC technologies, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and psychrometrics.
Experience designing products for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA).
Working knowledge of 3D CAD systems and the ability to interpret FEA and CFD results.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
High level of initiative, positive work ethic, and strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous engineering leadership or supervisory experience (2+ years).
Project management experience within an engineering or product development environment.
