Reporting to the Manager, Operations Coordination, we are looking for an Engineer in Training (EIT) who will contribute to the reliable operation of the Alberta Integrated Electric System (AIES) by undertaking analytic studies, coordinating the activities of numerous industry participants, executing various operational reports, and maintaining power system models and analytic applications.

Accountabilities
Create operational plans for the AESO System Controllers based on power flow, dynamic stability, and voltage stability studies.
Perform operational studies and provide guidance to support the AESO System Controllers during unplanned system events.
Provide on‑call after‑hours operations engineering support to the AESO System Controllers as needed.
Conduct system studies to support transmission system development projects.
Conduct assessments of supply adequacy from an operational perspective.
Develop and maintain operational power system models and analytic applications.
Participate in the development and implementation of operating policies.
Develop enhancements to operations scheduling processes and tools.
Collaborate with AESO and external peers to exchange, analyze, and interpret system information.
Produce operational reports for internal and external agencies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Eligible to register with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
NERC certification is an asset.
Minimum of two years of system analysis experience in either operational or planning domains.
Exposure to power system operational concerns.
Experience with power system analysis principles.
Experience in conducting power flow, dynamic stability and voltage stability studies using software such as PSS/E, TSAT, and VSAT.
Experience with Python, Pi‑Process Book, and Excel is an asset.
