Optimization Engineer

NSB Omega is searching for an Optimization Engineer for our MAJOR Oil & Gas Client in Calgary, AB.

We are seeking a highly analytical and results-driven Optimization Engineer to support operational excellence across our oil and gas assets. This office-based role focuses on improving production efficiency, reducing operating costs, enhancing asset performance, and supporting data-driven decision-making across drilling, production, processing, and maintenance activities.

The successful candidate will work closely with operations, reservoir, production, facilities, and commercial teams to identify optimization opportunities and implement sustainable performance improvements.

• Analyze production, operational, and financial data to identify performance improvement opportunities.
• Develop and maintain optimization models for oil and gas production systems.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and recommend corrective actions to improve asset efficiency.
• Perform production forecasting, bottleneck analysis, and capacity assessments.
• Support field development planning and operational improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize well performance, facility utilization, and production strategies.
• Conduct economic evaluations of optimization projects and capital investments.
• Prepare technical reports, dashboards, and presentations for management and stakeholders.
• Support digital transformation initiatives through the application of analytics, automation, and optimization tools.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.

Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.

3–8 years of experience in oil and gas operations, production engineering, process optimization, or operational excellence.

Strong understanding of upstream oil and gas production systems and facility operations.

Experience with production analysis, process optimization, and performance monitoring.

Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, Power BI, or similar platforms.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to interpret technical and operational data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.

Master's degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, Operations Research, or a related field.

Experience with production simulation, process modeling, or optimization software.

Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.

Familiarity with SCADA systems, digital oilfield technologies, and predictive analytics.

Professional engineering registration or relevant industry certifications.
