Demonstrated strong technical capability in municipal infrastructure, with depth in transportation and roadworks, water management, or utilities, and the ability to apply that expertise across a range of project types. Practical utilities infrastructure experience including hydraulic modelling for water, wastewater, and stormwater systems, along with servicing strategies, feasibility and master planning studies, design briefs, flow monitoring, I/I analysis, emergency response planning, and cost estimating.Proven leadership through the full project lifecycle, from site investigations and concept development through detailed design, tendering, construction administration, and close-out. Ability to provide sound technical oversight and direction, ensuring designsply with municipal standards, regulatory requirements, and accepted industry best practices while staying current with evolving approaches in Alberta. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing project delivery performance, including scope, risk, resourcing, budgets, and KPIs, while mentoring junior staff and building a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
Strong client-facing and business development skills, including relationship management, proposal and win strategy development, pursuit of leadership, market intelligence sharing, and cultivating strategic partnerships to support long-term growth objectives.
What you'll need to succeed
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related discipline, along with a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation. Minimum of ten years of progressive civil engineering experience, including at least five years in a project management and/or client-facing business development role. Master’s degree in engineering, science, business administration, or a related field, and PMP certification are considered strong assets.Experience working with public sector clients such as municipalities or provincial and federal agencies, with a solid understanding of public procurement environments. Demonstrated success in winning new work and growing client relationships in a consulting engineering setting, or significant experience evaluating proposals and managing consultants from the public sector side, supported by a strong grasp of fee negotiations, contracts, and financial performance.
Proficiency with project management and financial systems such as MS Project or Deltek platforms, paired with strong written and verbalmunication skills, including proposal development and technical report writing.
