Position: Process Engineer )

Acero Engineering Inc. ('Acero'), a growing oil & gas facilities engineering company providing engineering, procurement and construction management expertise, is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill a Senior Process Engineer role (10-15 years of experience). This can be an Employee or Contractor position. Acero focuses on facility and pipeline engineering, procurement, and construction management services from concept evaluation to plant start‑up.

Our core service offering includes in‑house project management, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control engineering, project engineering, procurement, regulatory services, civil and structural engineering, and construction management.

Responsibilities
  • Perform process simulations using various software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, Flare System Analyzer) and in‑house spreadsheets.
  • Proficient in gas processing, PSV sizing, line sizing, and flare systems analysis.
  • Perform sizing calculations on typical equipment and pipeline/piping flow.
  • Write process DBMs and reports – independently of a supervisor and communicate technical matters confidently.
  • Prepare process datasheets for equipment and instrumentation for RFQs.
  • Keep well informed of all codes and standards; possess strong knowledge of API, ASME, PHA techniques, Alberta directives, and company standards.
  • Design small projects virtually independently from a Senior Process Engineer, representing Acero to the client, and meet project timelines and cost estimates.
  • Develop P&Fs, P&IDs; navigate isometrics and plot plans with full understanding of all drawing components.
  • Work on problems where analysis requires in‑depth evaluation of various factors.
  • Other tasks/responsibilities as required.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills
  • Minimum education:

    Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Process Engineering and registered as a skilled engineer in Alberta (APEGA; EGBC preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in oil and gas facility operations; EPCM experience required.
  • Adept at HYSYS software.
  • Previous fabrication shop experience beneficial.
  • Field experience and ability to work independently in the field when necessary.
  • Strong ability to work independently, with strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work under pressure and tight timelines as occasionally demanded by clients.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
