Summary of Position
Our specialized Mining Technology division provides end-to-end communication and wireless infrastructure solutions for the global extractives industry. We partner with some of the world’s largest mining operations to ensure high-availability network performance in extreme environments. Our team is responsible for the design, deployment, and ongoing optimization of the mission-critical systems that keep heavy equipment fleets and autonomous mining technologies connected and operational.
As a Network Engineer, you will serve as a technical subject matter expert for large-scale industrial wireless networks. This is a high-impact role that bridges the gap between field-level hardware performance and enterprise-level network architecture. You will be responsible for the health of mine-wide communication systems, conducting advanced RF studies, and leading the integration of next-generation LTE and pLTE technologies to ensure zero-latency connectivity for autonomous and manned equipment.
Responsibilities- Supporting mine wireless networks;
- Performing root cause analysis on communication issues;
- Performing RF coverage studies, drive tests and wireless site surveys;
- Leading or assisting with proof-of-concept trials with new technologies;
- Developing strong relationships with our customer base to foster communication and collaboration;
- Ability and interest in learning and taking on new challenges;
- Developing and maintaining reports, standards, and other documentation;
- Working both independently and as part of a team;
- Willingness to work on-call and/or night shift.
- 5+ years of experience in enterprise level network design and support, including: IEEE 802.1, WAN/LAN, optimization, load balancing, routing, switching, QOS, TCP/IP, P2P and P2MP wireless equipment with hands-on experience administering Cisco wireless access points and controllers;
- Experience with Nokia and Ericsson cellular / LTE infrastructure.
- NetACT or Manta Ray (familiar with LTE)
- CMU/MCN experience and hands on with the IXRe platform
- CBRS pLTE network deployment experience
- CCENT or CCNA certification (or equivalent experience);
- Experience with mining applications and hardware such as Modular Mine Dispatch, Komatsu Front Runner, Caterpillar Command, Minestar, Wenco, etc.;
- Familiarity with wireless test equipment (spectrum analyzer, Site Master, etc.);
- Hands-on experience with Cisco Wi-Fi and Aviat / Cambium / Redline PMP or PTP products;
- Excellent client-facing communication and documentation skills;
- Experience with installations on heavy equipment.
- CCNP and CWNA certification (an asset);
Degree or College Diploma in network engineering or related field.
Number of hours per weekShift is 7-days on and 7-days off (6AM to 6PM)
LanguageEnglish
Secondary language of Spanish or French – preferred.
