Position Overview Startec Compression & Process is currently recruiting for a Managed Products Technical Coordinator to work at our Shepard Office (9423 Shepard Rd SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 4R6). Reporting to the Project Engineering/Technologist Lead (Managed Products), the Manager will support fabrication‑focused projects by coordinating engineered drawing packages, material procurement, fabrication support, technical documentation, shop testing activities, and overall project execution.
Key Responsibilities Technical Documentation & Drawing Coordination Review and interpret multidisciplinary drawing packages (structural, building, equipment, piping, electrical, P&, line lists).
Utilize Navisworks for 3‑D model review and constructability.
Ensure fabrication drawings are complete prior to release and perform drawing markups and technical reviews.
Manage document control activities, including releasing and tracking drawings and technical documentation.
Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manage revisions throughout project execution.
Coordinate drawing revisions and technical clarifications among engineering, fabrication, QA/QC, vendors, and customers.
Provide technical support for fabrication and assembly teams during execution.
Materials Management & Procurement Coordination Coordinate sourcing and procurement of project materials (piping, rotating equipment, instrumentation, electrical components, insulation).
Ensure purchased materials comply with Approved Manufacturer Lists and customer‑approved vendor requirements.
Identify and evaluate acceptable material substitutions to support schedules while maintaining compliance.
Maintain and update material information within ERP systems and release purchase requisitions.
Track procurement status and deliveries to support fabrication schedules and resolve discrepancies.
Develop familiarity with tube‑fitting components for accurate ordering.
Work closely with the Mechanical/Pressure Vessel group to coordinate technical requirements.
Fabrication, QA/QC & Shop Support Conduct regular shop visits to monitor progress and resolve issues.
Provide technical support to fabrication and assembly teams.
Coordinate and document punch list items during final inspections.
Support mechanical completion and turnover activities with accurate documentation.
Coordinate technical communication among fabrication, QA/QC, project management, vendors, and customers.
Shop Testing & Completion Support Support hydrostatic, pneumatic, electrical continuity, and mechanical completion testing.
Develop pneumatic test packages (P&, test boundaries, segmentation, volume breakdowns, stored energy calculations).
Coordinate testing documentation and support QA/QC verification requirements.
Review testing requirements against specifications and drawing packages.
Support turnover and completion documentation associated with fabrication and testing activities.
Project Coordination & Communication Support fabrication execution schedules by ensuring materials and documentation are ready.
Monitor procurement status and communicate schedule or cost impacts.
Validate purchased equipment and materials align with project budgets.
Coordinate between engineering, procurement, fabrication, QA/QC, project management, vendors, and customers.
Participate in project meetings and provide updates related to fabrication progress, procurement status, testing activities, and technical issues.
Qualifications Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related discipline, or Journeyman trade certification with relevant industrial fabrication or construction experience.
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
Familiarity with piping systems, tubing systems, fabrication processes, material coordination, document management, and revision control.
Experience with Navisworks, Bluebeam, ERP systems, document control systems, and Microsoft Office applications is considered an asset.
Understanding of QA/QC processes, fabrication execution, BOM management, and shop testing activities is considered an asset.
Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented fabrication environment.
Detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving and time‑management skills.
Customer focused with the ability to coordinate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
