Piping Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Piping Engineer to join our team. This role is based in our Calgary office with occasional travel to project sites as required.
Key Responsibilities- Perform piping stress analysis using Caesar II software.
- Conduct stress analysis for both above-ground and underground pipeline systems.
- Evaluate nozzle loading on static mechanical equipment.
- Perform piping stress assessments in accordance with ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.4, and CSA Z662 standards.
- Support piping material procurement by preparing and reviewing Material Requisition s (MRs) and Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs), ensuring technical accuracy and compliance.
- Analyze piping systems for major pipeline applications, including high-pressure steam lines, produced emulsion lines, produced gas or vapour lines, and natural gas pipelines.
- Develop plant and overall plot plans with responsibility for the piping layout scope.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to piping stress team members as required.
- Ensure all piping engineering work complies with company and client standards and specifications.
- Review mechanical equipment documentation, including vendor data and MRs, for piping-related components and requirements.
- Conduct field engineering reviews during construction phases to support site execution when required.
- Provide input and coordination support for multidisciplinary documents such as Line Design Tables (LDTs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Develop Material Selection Diagrams (MSDs) based on process design conditions.
- Define and support piping design inputs including wall thickness, hydrotest requirements, pressure and temperature conditions, and winterization considerations.
- Contribute to value engineering initiatives to optimize piping design and cost efficiency.
- Identify and resolve stress‑related design issues in pipelines and process piping systems.
- Perform pipe support selection and design.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10+ years of engineering experience; field experience is considered an asset.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with eligibility for stamping and sealing engineering documents (APEGA preferred).
- Strong experience in piping stress analysis and piping material selection.
- Demonstrated experience in detailed design of piping systems in industrial projects.
- Industry experience in oil and gas (SAGD preferred); experience in mining, pipelines, gas processing, gas compression, refining, or upgrading is also acceptable.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong commitment to teamwork, accountability, and project delivery excellence.
