Shape sustainable resource development as a Principal Geotechnical Engineer at WSP, focusing on dam safety and land reclamation across Canada. Lead innovative designs, risk assessments, and project management while mentoring engineers.
This role is based in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, or Winnipeg, with relocation support. You will respond to geotechnical challenges by overseeing the design and analysis of mines, tailings storage facilities, and water management systems. Your work will involve collaboration with regulators and internal teams to ensure high-quality project delivery and structural safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead geotechnical design and analysis for dams and tailings
• Plan and coordinate detailed site investigations
• Review technical deliverables, reports, and modeling studies
• Oversee construction and rehabilitation compliance
• Mentor junior to senior engineers and guide project delivery
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
• 15-20+ years of geotechnical or dam design experience
• Professional Engineer designation eligibility in Canada
• Deep expertise in tailings and water dam analysis
• Strong project management and communication skills
