Geotechnical Engineer

Job Description

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Geotechnical Engineer/Civil Engineer to join our team. The role involves supporting various major geotechnical and geo‑environmental projects including investigation, design, and construction.

• Perform and/or coordinate a variety of geotechnical/civil engineering tasks to complete designs for projects, including remediation and infrastructure projects such as cutoff walls, mines, landfills, bridge foundations, roadway design, retaining walls, excavations, and solidification.
• Write design reports and memos.
• Assist in developing design drawings and writing technical specifications.
• Perform and/or coordinate engineering calculations, such as slope stability, settlement, and finite element analysis.
• Develop and/or coordinate field investigation programs.
• Complete investigation and construction field assignments as needed.
• Coordinate laboratory testing programs and analyze and interpret laboratory test results.
• Review boring logs and develop subsurface soil profiles.
• Work effectively and collaboratively with the project team.
• Manage tasks and obtain the necessary management skills to grow into a project manager or technical lead position.
• Willingness and ability to travel for project work, including to remote mine sites in the U.S. and Canada.
• Implement behavior‑based safety tools to achieve incident‑free operations.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field with a specialization or strong focus in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Master's degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering is preferred (not required).
• 5+ years of related work experience in geotechnical, remediation, mining, or infrastructure design and construction.
• Familiarity with CAD (preferred).
• Familiarity with geotechnical software packages such as Plaxis, Roc Science, and Geo Studio (preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft software and various computer applications.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• P. Eng. is preferred (not required).
