Job Description
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Geotechnical Engineer/Civil Engineer to join our team. The role involves supporting various major geotechnical and geo‑environmental projects including investigation, design, and construction.
What You'll Be Doing- Perform and/or coordinate a variety of geotechnical/civil engineering tasks to complete designs for projects, including remediation and infrastructure projects such as cutoff walls, mines, landfills, bridge foundations, roadway design, retaining walls, excavations, and solidification.
- Write design reports and memos.
- Assist in developing design drawings and writing technical specifications.
- Perform and/or coordinate engineering calculations, such as slope stability, settlement, and finite element analysis.
- Develop and/or coordinate field investigation programs.
- Complete investigation and construction field assignments as needed.
- Coordinate laboratory testing programs and analyze and interpret laboratory test results.
- Review boring logs and develop subsurface soil profiles.
- Work effectively and collaboratively with the project team.
- Manage tasks and obtain the necessary management skills to grow into a project manager or technical lead position.
- Willingness and ability to travel for project work, including to remote mine sites in the U.S. and Canada.
- Implement behavior‑based safety tools to achieve incident‑free operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field with a specialization or strong focus in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Master's degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering is preferred (not required).
- 5+ years of related work experience in geotechnical, remediation, mining, or infrastructure design and construction.
- Familiarity with CAD (preferred).
- Familiarity with geotechnical software packages such as Plaxis, Roc Science, and Geo Studio (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft software and various computer applications.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- P. Eng. is preferred (not required).
