Overview

An Environmental Scientist with a minimum of three years experience in contaminated site regulatory and assessment. Supports WSP Remediation Program Management (RPM) team in Northern Territories, planning and delivering two annual field programs, fieldwork and technical reporting, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and providing mentorship.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver two annual field programs (winter and summer) for remediation projects across Canada’s Northern Territories.
  • Participate in fieldwork, including Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments, drilling, surveying, and groundwater sampling.
  • Prepare and compile technical reports, provide conclusions and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain Health and Safety and emergency response plans for field programs.
  • Support and train junior staff in environmental practices and site-specific safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with Project Coordinators, Project Managers, Senior Project Directors, and Field Technicians/Scientists/Engineers.
  • Work in remote locations, following a two-week on, two-week off shift rotation, with a maximum of three shifts per year.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years field experience in contaminated site assessments.
  • University degree or diploma in engineering, natural or earth sciences.
  • Experience working in remote or camp settings; experience in the Northern Territories is a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety procedures – a safety-conscious attitude is essential.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and ensure quality environmental data to meet project objectives.
  • Professional designation in environmental science or related field, or in training – preferred but not mandatory.
Compensation

Salary ranges based on geography:

  • AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YK: $69,700 – $92,300
  • MB & ON: $63,600 – $87,500
  • NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $62,900 – $83,600
