Lead Drilling Engineer at Cenovus

Cenovus is looking for a Lead Drilling Engineer to enhance its Delineation/Heavy Oil team. This pivotal role involves leading well planning, providing technical on-field support, and ensuring operational excellence.

This Senior Drilling Engineer position reports directly to the Senior Manager, Drilling Engineering, and focuses on drilling activities in key Alberta locations including Lloyd Thermal and Sunrise. You will develop comprehensive drilling programs, align with safety and environmental standards, and manage operational costs and performance metrics. Your collaborative spirit will be instrumental in driving continuous improvements across various departments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee drilling engineering activities across Cenovus Delineation assets

• Design and enhance drilling programs with risk assessments

• Monitor costs and KPIs to optimize efficiency

• Support field operations to meet well objectives

• Conduct post-well reviews to implement lessons learned

Requirements:

• Valid right to work in Canada

• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with 8+ years’ experience

• Expertise in thermal and heavy oil operations

• Strong knowledge of drilling technologies and practices

• Leadership and mentoring capabilities
