Client: Key owner midstream operator
Experience: 10–15 years in midstream facilities
Role OverviewThe Project Engineer supports a 1‑year contract with a major midstream owner in Calgary, providing engineering leadership across brownfield and capital facility projects
.
The role focuses on fractionation, NGL processing, stabilization, storage, utilities, and facility infrastructure
, with heavy interface across operations, EPC/EPCM engineering teams, construction, equipment packagers, and module yards
. The Project Engineer ensures design integrity, operability, constructability, and safe execution throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support engineering for NGL processing
, condensate handling, storage, blending, and utility systems. - Review and approve engineering deliverables (PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, specifications, vendor packages) as a licensed P.Eng
. - Develop scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, and risk assessments for facility modifications.
- Coordinate with EPC/EPCM engineering teams to ensure alignment with facility requirements and operational constraints.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, 3D model reviews, and constructability assessments.
- Engage with equipment packagers for package integration, technical clarifications, and performance expectations.
- Provide field engineering support to construction teams, including RFI resolution and technical guidance.
- Participate in module yard inspections, FAT/SAT, and package acceptance.
- Conduct MC/SC walkdowns, punchlist development, and turnover documentation.
- Review commissioning procedures, temporary system requirements, and start‑up sequencing.
- Provide engineering support during pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and system handover.
- Ensure operability, safety, and compliance with midstream facility standards.
- Active P.Eng (APEGA) — mandatory.
- Engineering degree in Mechanical, Process, Chemical, or related discipline.
- 10–15 years of experience in midstream facility projects (fractionation, NGL, stabilization, storage, utilities).
- Strong understanding of fractionation towers, stabilizers, reboilers, condensers, pumps, tanks, and utility systems.
- Demonstrated experience working with EPC/EPCM firms, construction teams, and vendor package suppliers.
- Experience with brownfield facility modifications, tie‑ins, and integration into operating assets.
- Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
