The Position

Sproule ERCE is seeking an energetic, self‑motivated Senior Geoscience Consultant to join our Americas Subsurface Advisory team. This is a contract consulting opportunity, engaged on a project‑by‑project and as‑needed basis. The position provides the opportunity to build upon your extensive geoscience experience with exposure to a broad range of clients including exploration and production companies, financial institutions and governments throughout the world.

Responsibilities

The Senior Geoscience Consultant’s responsibilities will include:

  • Working both independently on projects as well as within a multi‑disciplinary geographically dispersed team on client project work;
  • Working in teams with other engineers and geoscientists (with various levels of experience) to complete reserve and resource evaluations, integrated reservoir studies, strategic advisory projects, data‑room and due diligence interventions;
  • Working with Canadian and international clients;
  • Working with the team to achieve project scope, timelines and budget;
  • Contributing to team knowledge; and
  • Presenting Sproule’s technical opinions to clients.
Required Technical Qualifications & Experience
  • 15+ years of varied petroleum geoscience experience;
  • Have a geoscience degree or equivalent;
  • Possess extensive experience in both clastic and carbonate deposits in Canada and worldwide;
  • Have good understanding of geophysical and engineering aspects of reserves and resources evaluation;
  • Have solid experience in volumetric evaluations, applying deterministic and probabilistic methods;
  • Have a strong knowledge of and ability to conduct a petrophysical evaluation;
  • Have strong computer and program literacy in geology/geoscience and petrophysical software. Knowledge of several geological software packages is a plus; and
  • Have APEGA professional designation or be eligible to obtain it.
Additional

Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience in a consulting environment;
  • Experience with screening reservoirs of various types for gas or CO2 storage, or enhanced oil recovery;
  • Experience with assessing caprock and trap quality, determining reservoir capacity, and characterizing reservoir quality as it relates to injectivity.
  • Experience in integrated reservoir studies and literacy in geomodelling software is an asset; and
  • Additional specialization such as hydrogeology, sedimentology, data analytics etc. is a plus.
