As an engineering student working with the Midstream team (Nipisi Terminal, Pelican and Echo Pipelines), you will gain experience in the design, construction, modification, operation and optimization of midstream oil pipelines and terminals. You will gain exposure to different midstream assets (Canadian Natural and 3rd Party) located within Western Canada.
Job location:
Calgary, AB – Head Office. Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours/day (Monday – Friday). Term length: 12 months. Term start:
September 2026.
- Apply engineering principles to develop solutions for the midstream business unit
- Assist the Midstream Engineer and Control Room Supervisor with assorted technical and administrative tasks
- Gather data for engineering, procurement and construction of capital projects
- Take part in Project Management, from initial scoping to close‑out, using Canadian Natural’s Management of Change Process (MOC), which includes design development, drawing updates, process hazard assessments, and commissioning and start‑up support
- Assist the Control Room Operators with various tasks, such as general midstream pipeline operation and Leak detection surveillance systems
- Apply hands on project management and participate in operational reporting development
- Participate in team meetings to ensure alignment of goals and priorities as well as liaise with the area Operations, Integrity, Marketing, Business Development and Production team members
- Currently enrolled in your 3rd year degree program in Engineering or within one year of graduation (Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or Energy disciplines preferred)
- Previous oil and gas experience will be considered an asset
- Self‑starter with a strong work ethic with a demonstrable ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
- Ability to track and follow through on tasks
- Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out of province license
