OpportunityJoin WSP’s Rail & Transit team as a Drainage Designer based in Calgary. You will contribute to the planning and design of stormwater systems that support critical rail, transit, and transportation infrastructure across Western Canada and beyond. This role is ideal for an engineer seeking to deepen technical expertise and gain exposure to complex, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
Your Impact- Support the conceptual and detailed design of stormwater and drainage infrastructure for rail, transit, highway, and municipal projects.
- Develop drainage layouts, profiles, special details, and quantities using Civil 3D or Micro Station.
- Perform hydraulic and hydrologic modelling with PCSWMM and contribute to model interpretation and reporting.
- Prepare design drawings, technical memoranda, and reports in coordination with senior engineers.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate drainage solutions.
- Incorporate municipal, provincial, and regulatory requirements into project designs.
- Support project teams through design reviews, coordination meetings, and client interactions.
- Continuously develop technical skills with mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals.
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in designing stormwater management and drainage systems.
- A degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline) and eligibility for P.Eng. registration, or recent P.Eng. designation.
- Experience in both conceptual and detailed design of stormwater infrastructure.
- Hands‑on experience using Civil 3D and/or Micro Station for drainage design.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic modelling tools, with PCSWMM experience required.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- The ability to work effectively in a collaborative, consulting environment.
- Experience working in more than one Canadian province.
- Familiarity with hydraulic software such as XPSWMM, Info Drainage, Info Works ICM, or HEC‑RAS.
- Experience supporting rail, transit, or highway drainage projects.
- Local knowledge of the Calgary/Alberta regulatory environment.

CompensationAB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $89,800 – $118,900
MB & ON: $81,900 – $112,800
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $81,100 – $107,700
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
