Overview
BBA’s Civil/Structural/Geotechnical team is looking for a Geotechnical Engineer-In-Training to join our growing team in Vancouver, B.C. You’ll work with the team in Vancouver, B.C., along with our national and international teams on projects in the mining, industrial, renewable power and carbon capture industries. You’ll get to work with many experts on challenging projects which will help accelerate your career growth.

Responsibilities- Manage and direct the technical aspects of geotechnical site investigations, supervise investigation activities, test laboratory materials and prepare technical reports
- Review and supervise civil and geotechnical construction activities
- Analyze geotechnical engineering, including slope stability, bearing capacity, seepage and deformation analysis
- Apply rock mechanics principles, including field mapping, geotechnical core logging, rock mass characterization, rock stability assessment and reinforcement design
- Plan geotechnical instrumentation, supervise installation, and monitor and report results
- Participate in multidisciplinary project teams and ensure the technical quality of deliverables
- Support senior engineers in preparing geotechnical reports, technical memoranda and design recommendations
- Collaborate with team members and clients and contribute to technical discussions
- Participate in proposal efforts

Job Requirements
- B.Sc. or master’s degree in civil engineering, geological engineering or geotechnical engineering
- Registered or eligible for registration as an engineer-in-training (EIT)
- From 1 to 3 years of relevant professional geotechnical engineering experience
- Strong academic background and solid understanding of soil and rock mechanics
- Strong written and spoken communication skills, technical writing experience as well as presentation skills
- Strong soft skills and ability to work well with a team
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites
- Bilingual in English and French
- Familiarity with geotechnical design software: SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, Rocscience software suite, and other geotechnical software
- Annual base salary from $68,000 to $83,200 (for candidates in British Columbia)
