Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Junior Mechanical/Piping Designer to join the Integrated Design team. The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects within the Energy and Resource sector, ranging from studies to detailed engineering projects in North America and across the world. This role offers the chance to be part of a diverse team while focusing on technical growth.

This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment. As a Mechanical/Piping Designer, you will be responsible for working on various industrial projects, performing design work under minimal supervision. You will be relied on to make sound mechanical designs and to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply design skills to prepare or coordinate the preparation of contract drawings, sketches, and concept design through to construction.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical group members, other Stantec disciplines and clients to achieve project success.
  • Successfully carry out assignments on project design teams.
  • P& Flow Diagram preparation.
  • Effectively communicate with other team members in the department or project team.
  • Drawing preparation using AutoCAD, Plant3D, Cadworx, Inventor, Solid Works, Revit, AvevaE3D, Micro Station, etc.
  • 3D modeling and design of piping and mechanical systems.
  • Data collection and verification in our client’s facilities.
  • Preparation of isometric drawings.
  • Field representation and drawing interpretation.
Capabilities and Credentials
  • At least 1–3 years experience in the industrial consulting industry.
  • Bilingual in French and English is an asset.
  • Strong collaborative skills while working with a single or multi‑discipline team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Understanding of Stantec’s Employee Health and Safety (EH&S) program, with a focus on safety in the field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically in Windows, Word, Excel and Access is an asset.
  • Ability to work in an environment of constantly changing technology and project assignments.
Education and Experience
  • Technical degree, diploma, certificate or equivalent in a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 1–3 years of experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather.
