Environmental Assessment and Remediation Project Manager
WSP’s Remediation Program Management (RPM) team is seeking an experienced Environmental Assessment and Remediation Project Manager to join our team in Calgary or Edmonton. The role focuses on managing risk and closure of contaminated sites in the downstream oil and gas industry, overseeing field‑work monitoring, investigation, remediation, and preparing technical reports.
Responsibilities- Create a safe and positive environment for colleagues.
- Lead a project team and take on responsibilities including:
- Review health and safety plans and emergency response plans.
- Prepare proposals and cost estimates.
- Write and review reports, including conclusions and recommendations.
- Track project accounting and reporting requirements under WSP’s Master Services Agreements.
- Train junior staff in environmental practices such as Phase I and II ESAs, drilling, surveying, groundwater sampling, and remediation oversight.
- Provide site‑specific health and safety training.
- Manage client relationships.
- Collaborate across the national RPM team and WSP.
- Develop a personal career development plan with specific goals to advance career aspirations.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (sciences and/or engineering).
- Minimum 8 years of experience in contaminated site assessments.
- Strong understanding of health and safety procedures in the workplace and a safety‑conscious attitude.
- Analytical mind capable of recommending next steps for client sites.
- Strong business acumen and financial management experience, including developing, tracking and forecasting on annual budgets.
- Previous experience with soil and groundwater sampling and remediation.
- Understanding of Alberta and Saskatchewan environmental regulations.
- Professional designation preferred.
- Experience in the oil and gas sector an asset.
- AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YK: $69,700 - $92,300
- MB & ON: $63,600 - $87,500
- NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $62,900 - $83,600
