Molding Automation Technician

Job Overview
The Molding Automation Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing automation systems used in injection molding operations. This includes robotic equipment, sensors, conveyors, and auxiliary devices to ensure efficient and reliable production in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair molding automation systems including robots, conveyors, sensors, and vision systems.
- Respond to automation alarms and faults to minimize downtime.
- Program and optimize molding robots (e.g., Sepro, Fanuc, Yushin, Wittmann) for part handling and packaging.
- Modify robot paths and sequences to improve cycle time and product quality.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automation equipment.
- Calibrate sensors, replace worn components, and maintain maintenance records.
- Support mold trials and new product launches by configuring automation systems.
- Recommend and implement process improvements and participate in lean/kaizen initiatives.
- Ensure automation systems operate safely and comply with ISO, FDA, and GMP standards.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical certification or Associate's degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, or Industrial Automation preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in injection molding automation or related manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with robot programming and troubleshooting.
Technical
Skills:
- Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, and industrial sensors.
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Familiarity with EOAT (End-of-Arm Tooling) design and maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
