Lead Technical Excellence as a Principal Metallurgical Engineer on High-Impact Energy & Industrial Projects Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Principal Metallurgical Engineer in the energy sector in a hybrid work environment in Calgary, Alberta.
We are seeking a Principal Metallurgical Engineer to provide senior technical leadership across complex capital projects and sustaining engineering programs.
This role serves as a recognized subject matter expert in metallurgy, materials engineering, corrosion, welding, and asset integrity, supporting multidisciplinary teams delivering projects across conventional energy, energy transition, refining, gas processing, hydrogen, and industrial sectors.
You’ll influence critical engineering decisions, mentor technical teams, and help drive technical excellence across major project portfolios.

- Provide technical leadership in metallurgy, materials selection, corrosion engineering, welding, and failure analysis
- Develop and govern engineering standards, specifications, and best practices across projects
- Review and approve complex materials, corrosion, fabrication, and integrity management decisions
- Advise clients on asset integrity, corrosion mitigation, life-cycle management, and risk reduction strategies
- Mentor engineers and support technical development across the materials engineering discipline
- Conduct site visits and support troubleshooting of corrosion, degradation, and fabrication-related issues
- Hold a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Metallurgical Engineering or a closely related discipline
- Maintain or be eligible for Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration with APEGAD
- Demonstrate extensive experience in metallurgy, materials engineering, corrosion and welding within energy or industrial facilities
- Apply strong knowledge of ASME, CSA, API, ASTM, and NACE/AMPP codes and standards
- Lead technical execution on large multidisciplinary engineering projects and programs
- Communicate effective with clients, project teams, and stakeholders while providing expert technical guidance
