Purpose:
We are currently recruiting for a Principal Telecommunications Engineer. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time hybrid position based at a Worley office in Canada:
Calgary/Edmonton, Alberta; or Sudbury, Ontario; or in the United States:
Houston, Texas;
Other locations across the US and Canada will be considered.
The purpose of the Principal Telecommunication Engineer role shall be to serve as a technical authority designing and delivering industrial telecommunication projects across Oil & Gas, Mining, Power and Chemical sectors. This role provides technical leadership during all phases of design and supports construction and commissioning activities. The successful candidate will lead the architecture and overall engineering of telecommunication systems such as wired and wireless networks, fiber optic networks, CCTV, Access Control and other extra-low voltage (ELV) systems, ensuring safe, reliable and scalable telecommunication designs are delivered in alignment with customer and project requirements.
Responsibilities:
Develop basis of design and project philosophies.
Produce FEED-Level engineering deliverables including design criteria, reports and specifications, system block diagrams, general arrangements and equipment lists. Develop bill of materials, material take-offs and technical input to TIC Cost Estimates.
Complete calculations and estimations (capacity/power/heat/space/weight/Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop and review engineering drawings and design deliverables.
Provide technical direction and oversight to designers and drafters in the development of engineering drawings, models and construction deliverables.
Lead the development of construction drawing packages such as cabinet details, floor plans, installation details, wiring and termination diagrams, EWPs, CWPs, Vendor scope of work and material requisitions.
Review vendor documents and coordinate the development of vendor packages.
Ensure constructability, maintainability and operability in all deliverables.
Resolve engineering issues with stakeholders across client, vendor, EPC and construction contractors.
Prepare and evaluate technical specifications, datasheets and material requisitions.
Review vendor proposals and ensure compliance with project specifications and standards
Perform technical bid evaluations.
Lead or participate in FATs, SATs, and inspections when required.
Support commissioning team with system turn-up, testing and validation documentation.
Plans and executes projects through teamwork with other departments and with outside organizations.
