Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) | Lead Industrial & Energy Projects in Calgary or Edmonton Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer - HVAC in the Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) / Industrial Engineering / Energy in Calgary, Alberta. Join a dynamic engineering team as a Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC), supporting major industrial and energy projects across Western Canada.
This role offers the opportunity to lead HVAC engineering execution, develop innovative and compliant system designs, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on projects spanning oil & gas, energy transition, mining, chemicals, and heavy industrial sectors.
Total rewards: $75.00 - $85.00 hourly
Work on high-profile industrial and energy projects across diverse sectors
Lead complex HVAC engineering scopes with significant technical ownership
Contribute to energy transition initiatives including hydrogen and carbon capture projects
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams
Engage in field visits, commissioning support, and site-based engineering activities
Develop leadership capabilities through technical mentorship responsibilities
A typical day:
Prepare and review HVAC design criteria, specifications, data sheets, and technical deliverables
Perform HVAC calculations including load studies, ventilation analysis, and equipment sizing
Develop and review HVAC layouts, equipment arrangements, and system routing
Coordinate HVAC scope with project, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams
Interface with vendors to review documentation and resolve technical queries
Conduct site visits to support field engineering, constructability reviews, and commissioning
Maintain compliance with applicable codes, standards, client specifications, and project requirements
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and support as HVAC Package Lead or Discipline Lead
Successful candidates will have:
Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering Maintain P.Eng. registration with APEGA or demonstrate eligibility for registration
Demonstrate senior-level HVAC engineering experience within industrial facilities
Apply strong expertise in air handling, ventilation, pressurization, exhaust, and packaged HVAC systems
Possess knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, CSA, SMACNA, and relevant building codes
Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams
Utilise HVAC design and calculation software such as HAP, Trace, Elite, or equivalent
Bring experience in oil & gas, mining, chemicals, heavy industrial, or energy transition projects
