Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as Manager, Transmission & Power, Mainline Optimization Project (MOP). In this position, you will lead the power scope of the MOP, which is focused on increasing Line 2 capacity from 540 kbpd sustainable to 805 kbpd sustainable, with 840 kbpd sustainable during winter. You will be responsible for permanent and temporary power strategy, utility coordination, electrical infrastructure, transmission and distribution connections, energization, commissioning support, and handover activities required to support expanded operations and targeted Early In-Service and Full-Service milestones.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong expertise in utility interface management, transmission and distribution infrastructure, project execution, stakeholder coordination, and electrical systems delivery for large-scale energy infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all phases of the MOP power workstream, including project development, engineering, utility coordination, procurement, construction, commissioning, energization, and handover to Operations for new substations, transmission and distribution connections, and associated electrical infrastructure in Alberta and British Columbia.
- Manage the delivery of key transmission infrastructure projects, including the 7 km transmission line from Rearguard to Hargreaves, the 3.5 km transmission line in Merritt, and the 300 m transmission line in Barriere, ensuring successful coordination of engineering, permitting, land access, construction, commissioning, energization, and operational handover activities.
- Coordinate critical utility interfaces and system reinforcement initiatives, including major BC Hydro transmission system reinforcement north of Kamloops, ensuring alignment of utility schedules, technical requirements, risk mitigation strategies, and readiness to support early Q1 2029 Early In-Service and Q2/Q3 2029 Full-Service milestones.
