Day in the Life

As an Intermediate Air Quality Specialist, you will report to the Service Lead and support air quality assessments on projects within our Air Permitting and Compliance (Air P&C) Service Line. You will play a key technical role in a broad range of projects across Canada. This position is hybrid and can be based at any of our Onterris office locations in Western Canada.

The compensation range for this permanent position is an hourly rate of $31.00 - $54.00, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. We are also committed to flexible work hours and schedules, team-based work, and cross-training opportunities. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience providing technical support and strategy and delivering projects on schedule and on budget.

Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in and promote the strong safety culture at Onterris
  • Contribute to air permitting and compliance projects for a diverse portfolio of clients including oil and gas, midstream, mining, power generation and transmission, petrochemicals, and infrastructure
  • Support projects to address a range of environmental air compliance challenges from simple to complex
  • Execute annual greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions calculations, reviews, and verification support
  • Conduct dispersion modelling assessments of varying complexity for permitting and incident assessment scenarios
  • Prepare technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, and cost estimates
  • Support and mentor junior team members
  • Effectively manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets
  • Ensure effective internal communication and collaboration to deliver high-quality products that meet our clients’ unique project needs
  • Manage client communications and expectations

Expertise and Skills

  • 8+ years of experience in regulatory compliance and permitting in Canada, specifically air related regulatory impact assessment, dispersion modelling, permitting and compliance strategy
  • Degree or diploma in Engineering, Environmental Science or related field
