The Role
Wood is currently seeking an experienced Lead Structural Designer to join our Projects Team in Calgary, Alberta. The role will lead structural design and drafting activities, coordinate a team of designers, and support multidisciplinary project execution while ensuring deliverables meet project, client, statutory, regulatory, schedule, and quality requirements.

Responsibilities

Carry out structural design and drafting work as part of a multi-discipline project team.

Lead a team of structural designers, including task assignment, work prioritization, and schedule coordination.

Produce complex 3D structural models using Advance Steel.

Produce 2D structural drawings from reference 3D models using AutoCAD.

Provide discipline-specific design and drafting services that meet project, client, statutory, and regulatory requirements.

Coordinate and work closely with project team members and other disciplines to support successful project execution.

Participate in project meetings, model reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination activities.

Coordinate work with Wood's workshare teams and support execution across multiple offices.

Perform quality checks on 3D models and 2D drawings in accordance with Wood QA/QC procedures.

Prepare material take-offs and other design deliverables as required.

Manage assigned work within project schedules and budgets.

Mentor and provide technical guidance to designers on the project.

Perform other discipline-related duties as requested by the Structural Lead.
