Procurement Specialist – Projects / EPC Procurement

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position will support major transmission and infrastructure projects through ownership of the full procurement lifecycle, from receiving engineering specifications through RFx development, vendor engagement, proposal evaluation, contract negotiations, purchase order issuance, and supplier management. This individual will work closely with project teams, engineering, estimating, and vendors to ensure major equipment and engineered packages are procured efficiently and aligned with project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the end-to-end procurement process for major capital projects

Review engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of material (BOMs)

Develop RFQs, RFPs, and procurement packages

Conduct bidder outreach and vendor engagement

Evaluate commercial and technical proposals

Participate in vendor selection and recommendation activities

Negotiate commercial terms, conditions, and purchase agreements

Issue and administer purchase orders

Coordinate with engineering and project stakeholders

Monitor supplier performance, milestones, and delivery schedules

Manage procurement risk and schedule impact mitigation

Support procurement planning for EPC-style project execution

Must Haves

- 7 - 12 years exp. in Supply Chain

- 3-5 years in major procurement (Full RFx Process)

- At least 3-5 years independently leading major procurement packages

- EPC Exp. (Experience procuring engineered equipment or engineered solutions)

- Total installment cost on projects - 10-30 M in spend

-Ability to interpret:
Engineering drawings;
Specifications; BOMs (Bills of Material);
Technical procurement packages

- Experience managing procurement packages valued in the millions

- Cut POs (tied to general work and new ones)

- past exp. managing 10+ POs while also doing vendor setups and invoice reconciliations

- GC or manufacturing/fabrication company background

- strong organizational skills

Nice To Haves

- Experience with linear projects in general (pipelines)

- Experience with in Transmission and Distribution projects

- Substation and distribution purchases (cable pulls, conductors, transformers)

- Expediting exposure ie: following up not on important export, need to make sure things do not show up late

- JD Edwards

- Business Certificate, Diploma or Degree

- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality concerning financial and commercial terms

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.

Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
