The Role
The (Senior) Governance, Enterprise Risk and Assurance Auditor reports directly to the Manager of Governance, Enterprise Risk and Assurance. This position is responsible for planning, testing, and analyzing relevant business activities to assist the Manager in meeting obligations to the C‑Suite and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. The role supports the company’s objectives by reviewing and assessing the operational effectiveness and adequacy of internal controls through various governance programs, including the C‑SOX compliance, Internal Audit, and Enterprise Risk Management programs (ERM).
What You Will Do
Key Accountabilities include the completion of engagements to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of the Company’s governance and internal controls, while supporting the Enterprise Risk Management process. These activities are intended to assist Gibson in meeting its stated goals and objectives. This includes:
- Responsibility for completing internal audit engagements, including developing and executing detailed audit procedures, evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of processes, operating systems, and internal controls, and preparing and maintaining documentation that supports and summarizes completed work in accordance with the standards set by the Institute of Internal Auditors Professional Practices Framework.
- Carrying out the ICFR program by preparing risk assessments, performing walk‑throughs, testing controls, and reporting findings to the Manager of Risk Intelligence and Audit.
- Tracking whether Management actions have been implemented according to agreed upon internal control improvements.
- Providing feedback on policies and new processes/controls when requested.
- Maintaining effective working relationships with Corporate and Business Unit leaders, including senior leadership.
- Maintaining a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Performance of other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring to the Role
- Team player with superior customer service skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or related discipline.
- Minimum 0‑1+ (Analyst) 1‑2+ (Senior) year(s) of post‑designation Audit related work experience.
- Firm experience would be considered an asset.
- Experience in CSOX (or SOX) compliance would be considered an asset.
- Strong business analytical skills including process mapping, process improvement and root cause analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of IIA audit standards, COSO internal control framework, and ERM.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
- Strong data analytic skills would be considered an asset.
- Understanding of controls relating to IT systems and databases is an asset.

- The majority of the work is performed in an office environment.
