Petro China Canada (PCC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Petro China Company Limited which is partially owned by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), a state-owned enterprise. CNPC is China's largest oil company and the world's third largest oil company, operating 91 energy-related projects in over 35 countries and regions. PCC has invested billions of dollars in an asset-rich portfolio of upstream, midstream and downstream operations.
In Alberta, this includes our Mac Kay River and Dover oilsands projects, Duvernay Shale Gas and a 50% interest in the Grand Rapids Pipeline. In British Columbia, we hold joint venture interests in the Groundbirch tight gas project and LNG Canada.
Reporting to the Lead, Assets & Financial Reporting, the Financial Accountant’s focus will be the timely preparation of accurate and complete financial reports.
The Financial Accountant will be one of the primary contacts and coordinators with Head Office for the Controlling department. The Financial Accountant will also be an advisor to other members of the Finance department and operations teams, helping to assess the system requirements, accounting treatment and processes associated with sustaining new business activities.
Accountabilities:
Develop and maintain exceptional working relationship with Head office, acting as one of the key team liaisons between local controlling team and head office working level teams.Review and prepare various portions of the monthly FMIS package and other reporting for head office.Coordinate and prepare monthly reporting Financial Statement Package and quarterly financial statementsCoordination and execution of various month end close processPrepare monthly reporting financial statement package and supplemental analysisPreparation of balance sheet account reconciliationsPreparation and coordination of financial presentations and analysis for managementSupporting the work of other finance membersProvide backup BPC and FI/CO master data supportAssist in the preparation of consolidated annual IFRS financial statements and notesAssist Senior Financial Analyst in coordination and consolidation of forecasts and budgetAd-hoc projects and reports for headquarters, management, and other business unitsBackup for various SAP master data setup and maintenanceQualifications:Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Business or related fieldAbility to communicate in Mandarin, verbal and written, at a professional level is requiredProfessional Accountant Designation requiredMinimum of 4+ years related oil & gas work experience (2-3 years post designation) is requiredProficiency in the Microsoft Suite of tools, specifically in the use of advanced excel toolsPrior experience with large financial systems (preferably SAP ECC, Analysis, BPC) would be an assetPrior experience as an external auditor working on mid to large oil and gas client files would be an assetConfident, detail orientated and enthusiastic team playerSuperior interpersonal, communication, organizational and analytical skillsFlexibility and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activitiesAbility to handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environmentStrong technical, analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate in English, verbally and in writing, effectively and efficiently is requiredAdoption and demonstration of Petro China Canada Values (Honorable, Unified, Passionate, Accountable)About Us
