Alta Gas - Team Lead, Accounts Payable

Alta Gas has an immediate opening for a Lead to oversee the Accounts Payable team of 16. This role is perfect for someone who has a passion for continuous improvement by enhancing overall efficiency, effectiveness and collaboration as we continue to modernize our finance operations.

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Accounts Payable Analysts
• Conduct performance reviews and ongoing coaching for four (4) direct reports
• Foster an environment of continuous improvement
• Coordinate team meetings, communications, and engagement activities
• Oversee daily Accounts Payable activities, ensuring timely processing and issue resolution
• Provide support and backup to team’s processes as needed
• Monitor invoice workflow, aging, and exception queues
• Review and approve new vendors, wire templates, and intercompany transfers
• Oversee the Gas Day process
• Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders and resolve escalations
• Execute key Procure-to-Pay SOX controls and perform periodic account reconciliations
• Serve as a liaison for internal and external auditors
• Ensure adherence to company policies, approval matrices, and financial controls
• Identify inefficiencies and lead process improvement initiatives
• Support the implementation of the new ERP system (Oracle) and new processes
• Promote a culture of challenging the status quo and continuous learning

• Minimum 5+ years experience in Accounts Payable
• Strong proficiency with MS Office
• Experience with Power Platform (Power
  
  BI, Power Apps, Power Automate) considered an asset
• Previous experience using large financial systems (e.g., JDE, Oracle) preferred
• ERP implementation experience considered a strong asset
• Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills
• Excellent customer service mindset and ability to build relationships
• High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
• Proven ability to identify issues, drive solutions, and improve processes
• Curious, adaptable, and comfortable challenging existing processes
