A leading energypany has an immediate need for a Regulatory Finance Advisor to join their team in central Calgary.
Your new role
Maintain a revenue requirement model that incorporates a variety of inputs from many functional areas and employsplex accounting and regulatoryputations.Prepare monthly revenue accruals and forecasts inpliance with regulatory parameters and applicable accounting standards.Provide internal reporting on corporate results, including detailed variance analysis, and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycle for accounting, financial planning, and other management requirements.Support the regulatory team by assisting with thepilation, analysis and interpretation of financial data during regulatory proceedings and litigation, and in response to subsequentpliance filings or Alberta Utilitiesmission (AUC) directives and assist with drafting corresponding sections in the filings.Assist with researching, writing, and reviewing AUC and intervenor Information Requests to ensure strategic consistency and alignment across departments.Assist with application of the Electric Utilities Act and Regulations, and of decisions from regulatory authorities.Stay abreast of developments concerningponents of thepany’s revenue requirement and provide input into the analysis to assess the financial impacts of regulatory decisions and initiatives.Assist in thepletion of the revenueponent of financial forecasts and annual business plans, incorporating both regulatory and technical accounting inputs.Support strategic economic analysis and reporting for senior management on trends and developments that may have financial impacts.Work with cross-functional teams on a variety of regulatory and financial issues.Identify and implement process improvements and resolve gaps in data or information quality.Special projects and other duties, as assigned.What you'll need to succeed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS, financial standards and processes.Accounting acumen and the ability to translateplex financial data into accurate, supportable regulatory analysis.Proven analytical skills, including experience with financial reporting, technical accounting, andplex modeling.Clear written and verbalmunication skills, with the ability to present financial and regulatory information to various audiences.Ability to build effective partnerships through technical expertise and business insight.Self-motivated and proactive in staying current with changes in regulatory and accounting environments, translatingplex developments into clear, actionable insights that support sound business decisions.Attention to detail and accuracy in all financial outputs.Effective time management and organization to handle multiple deadlines.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for modeling, data manipulation, and reporting.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Degree or diploma inmerce or Business Administration, plus 5 years of related experience; an equivalentbination of education and experience may be consideredA recognized Chartered Professional Accounting designation is required.Experience working in a regulated environment, preferably within the electrical utility industry, would be an assetFamiliarity with SAP or aparable ERP system and supporting data analysis software would be an asset.Understanding of utility ratemaking principles is also considered an asset.What you'll get in return
