Timbercreek is seeking an Analyst, CMHC Multifamily Program who will thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. The Analyst will support the CMHC Multifamily Program, taking part in the full investment process from deal sizing/structuring to closing to ongoing asset management post-closing. The ideal candidate is a results-oriented real estate and finance professional, a problem solver and creative thinker, self-starter, and most importantly, a team player excited to grow with the company.
This role is part of our hybrid work model. This role involves building and maintaining client relationships, structuring and negotiating loan terms, preparing investment materials and overseeing the full loan lifecycle from origination through to portfolio management.
- Review and assess new multi-family mortgage investment opportunities.
- Perform detailed underwriting and financial modeling, including cash flow analysis to assess credit risk and determine appropriate loan structures and pricing.
- Conduct market research and site inspections to support investment assumptions.
- Correspond with the borrower, mortgage & real estate brokers, and other industry professionals to validate and further substantiate the investment assumptions and gain better understanding of particular markets and asset classes.
- Conduct in-depth due diligence on the credit worthiness of sponsors/clients and other financial data relevant to transactions.
- Identify risks and mitigants and communicate findings to internal credit teams and investment partners.
- Prepare term sheets and/or commitment letters consistent with preliminary underwriting and pre-approved deal structure.
- Prepare investment committee memos and loan summaries for internal and investor approval.
- Coordinate and review due diligence materials to ensure consistency with underwriting and deal terms.
- Address investor questions and review materials as needed to secure approvals.
- Issue and negotiate commitment letters, ensuring alignment with approved terms.
- Collaborate with funding team on initial and subsequent advances and resolve any pre-funding issues.
- Where required and in conjunction with the Origination team, perform site inspections and meet with clients, property managers, appraisers, and other related stakeholders.
- Together with the Originator, the Analyst will be a point person in the due diligence process (both internal and external) and assist all relevant teams throughout the closing process.
- Provide proactive asset management of funded/closed loans (i.e. mortgage renewals, fundings, restructurings and regular loan reviews).
- Perform active financial updates and reporting including updating financial models, client budgets and maintaining up to date documentation and information management.
- Assist the syndication, funding and servicing teams with post-closing follow ups, as required.
Education and Experience
