Surface Landman

Tourmaline Oil Corp. is a Canadian senior crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company focused on long‑term growth through an active exploration, development, production, and acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of our company and make a meaningful impact in the industry.

We are currently seeking an Intermediate/Senior Surface Landman to join our Calgary office.

Reporting to the Manager, Surface Land, the successful candidate will be responsible for, or assist with, the following:

• Coordinate and manage land access for well sites, pipelines, and facilities.
• Negotiate and secure land agreements, including rights for surveying, well sites, pipelines, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of company‑owned and leased properties.
• Oversee contract formulation, interpretation, and administration related to land acquisition.
• Ensure compliance with relevant policies, regulations, and laws governing land acquisition in Western Canada.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to secure necessary government permits.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for land‑related issues within the designated area, including access, landowner relationships, and surface challenges.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with landowners, Indigenous communities, and other key stakeholders.
• Lead public consultation programs and manage participant engagement to foster positive stakeholder relations.
• Provide support on land‑related issues affecting company operations.
• Stay informed on industry best practices, policy changes, and regulatory updates related to land management.
• Perform other duties as required to support company objectives.

• 7+ years of relevant industry experience, with post‑secondary education in Land Management or a related field.
• Valid Alberta Land Agent License is mandatory;
  Commissioner for Oaths (considered an asset, not required).
• Experience as a Land Broker and in‑house Land professional, with a strong track record in land access and regulatory compliance.
• Extensive knowledge of Crown and Freehold lands in Alberta and British Columbia (considered an asset, not required).
• Membership in CALEP (Canadian Association of Land and Energy Professionals).
• Microsoft Office Suite.
• British Columbia Energy Regulator (BCER) Consultation & Notification Directive / Regulations.
• Surface lease acquisition and Crown application processes.
• Strategic planning, organization, and implementation of land access programs.

• Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply complex land regulations and policies.
• Detail‑oriented with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrated sound judgment and problem‑solving abilities in high‑pressure situations.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross‑functional teams, managing multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
