This competition is to fill 3 Auxiliary On Call Reinforcement (AOC-R) positions for the Whitehorse Correctional Center (WCC).

Under the direction of the Manager, Correctional Services, and as part of a team, this position carries out the day to day operational and program activities of the Whitehorse Correctional Centre. The Corrections Officer will work various shifts and is responsible for maintaining security, safety, good order and care of adult inmates by providing orientation, direction, guidance and programming. The focus is to engage the inmates in a process that provides maximum opportunity for change in an environment that is productive and supportive and in which they are treated in a respectful, fair and equitable manner.

This position is classified as a Peace Officer under the Criminal Code of Canada.
