Your Opportunity:

The Community Accessible Rehabilitation (CAR) program is an adult ambulatory rehabilitation program for clients with complex neurological injuries and conditions. The Speech Language Pathologist (SLPII) on the CAR team works in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team serving an outpatient population of patients. The successful applicant will be responsible for the assessment, treatment, and consultation for clients with speech difficulties as a result of a neurological injury/condition.

The SLP II ensures that their clinical practice is evidence-based and meets professional standards of practice. The position involves provision of patient care, consultation to CAR staff and clients, participation in staff development and participation in CAR program evaluation. The successful candidate will excel while working independently and within a team. They will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated interested in advancing their knowledge and skills as an SLP.

CAR is a multisite program, and this position is based at the South Calgary Health Centre. The caseload for all positions within CAR may be subject to change based on operational considerations.

Description:

As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide clinical professional practice both independently and as a part of a collaborative team, which may include external partners. You will be responsible for providing prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management. You will participate in the planning, coordination and delivery of rehabilitation services in collaboration with patients/clients, families, healthcare professionals and other partners.

Your leadership and interpersonal skills will aid you in supervising students and providing clinical guidance to other staff as appropriate. You will use your clinical expertise to inform ongoing quality improvement, service integration, and program development.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent (within last 2 years) experience working in an ambulatory adult neuro rehab setting with a collaborative interdisciplinary team. Experience with fluency assessment and treatment Experience conducting clinical swallow examinations and providing recommendations. Speak Out or LSVT training preferred. Experience with virtual service delivery. Recent (within last 2 years) experience facilitating group treatment sessions, either virtually or in-person.
