Position: CLINICAL PHARMACIST, PRIMARY CARE

Position Summary
Are you a registered Clinical Pharmacist looking to highlight your knowledge, skills, and abilities in a new and dynamic environment? We currently have an opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Primary Care department.

In accordance with established mission, vision, values and strategic priorities of the Northern Health and reporting to the Pharmacy Operations Lead, Primary and Long-Term Care, this position provides clinical pharmacy services to patients of the primary care network. As a member of an interprofessional team this position works directly with patients to identify and resolve actual and potential drug therapy problems through provision of comprehensive medication management.

Position covers South Peace Primary Care Network, which includes communities of Dawson Creek, Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge. Hours of work may vary based on site and operational need.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days - 08:30 to 16:30, Rotating

Dawson Creek & District Hospital Dawson Creek and District Hospital is a full service community hospital that provides service to Dawson Creek and surrounding communities. It has 31 Acute Care beds and 15 regional adult psychiatric beds. Dawson Creek is the Orthopaedic Trauma and Surgical centre for the Northeast Region of BC. Services include:

  • Emergency
  • ICU
  • Day Surgery
  • Respiratory Therapy
  • Primary Care
  • Acute Care
  • Diagnostic Imaging
  • Laboratory
  • Visiting specialists including:

  • Urology
  • Dermatology
  • Pediatrics
  • Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Dawson Creek Wide blue skies and the rolling foothills of the Northern Rockies surround Dawson Creek. The city is also known as the Mile Zero City, as it marks the start of the Alaska Highway, a 2,400 km long highway connecting Alaska and the Yukon to Western Canada and the United States. Dawson Creek has a population of approximately 12,500. It provides primary service to a population of approximately 20,000 and helps serve the larger population of the Peace River Region of 60,000.

    Qualifications

  • Current registration with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia and a minimum 2 years recent, related patient care experience, ideally in a team based primary care setting or equivalent.
  • A valid Class 5 drivers’ licence and access to a personal vehicle for business related purposes.
  • Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) through appropriate/prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions.
  • Ability to teach patients and others both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Integrates best practice and current research evidence to support professional practice decisions and actions.
