We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Supportive Roommate to provide daily living support to an adult with developmental disabilities who requires mental health and medical related assistance. This role plays a key part in ensuring the individual’s safety, wellbeing, independence, and quality of life
, while following established health and behavioural support plans.
The Supportive Roommate will assist with:
- Meal planning and preparation following dietitian recommendations
- Scheduling and attending medical appointments
- Providing person centred care while maintaining awareness of environmental risks
This role also requires open communication with the supervisor, healthcare providers, and other team members. Participation in care planning, team meetings, and follow-up appointments is essential, as well as supporting the individual in working toward their goals and preferred community activities.
- Minimum of a Diploma or Certificate in the Human Services field or Disability Sector
- Must have valid class 5 drivers license and a reliable vehicle with minimum $2,000,000 liability insurance
- Provide Home insurance and Commercial Liability insurance
- One to two years relevant experience in the human services field
- Minimum required training in Emergency First Aid & CPR Level A
- Willing to make appropriate modifications for the individual’s access requirements in the home
- Home visit & assessment required
- Previously trained in and have experience with medication administration
- Other current and relevant trainings such as Non-violent Crises Intervention, Abuse Prevention Response Protocol, Positive Behavior Supports, etc.
- Additional training requirements may include Mental Health
