The NSWOC Clinic at FMC provides specialized clinical expertise in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for individuals and families experiencing ostomy, continence‑related concerns and for those requiring advanced wound management. Nurses Specialized in Wound and Ostomy and Continence Care (NSWOC) serve as knowledgeable resources for inpatient unit staff, offering guidance and support in complex wound and ostomy care as required.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive consultation, education, and clinical care to referred inpatients, outpatients, and their families, ensuring high‑quality, patient‑centered service across care settings.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well‑being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.
You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
PLEASE NOTE:
Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:- Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
- If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1‑4): NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrates strong organizational capabilities and clear, professional communication skills in both oral and written formats.
- Exhibits the ability to perform accurate telephone assessments, provide appropriate interventions, and ensure timely follow‑up and referrals.
- Able to function both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, maintaining effective and respectful communication.
- Possesses basic computer proficiency.
- Brings recent and extensive experience in the management of complex wounds and ostomies, as well as a minimum of five years of acute inpatient surgical nursing experience.
- Knowledge of Connect Care is considered an asset.
- Experience in the care of acute general surgery and oncology patients is considered an asset.
- Bachelor of Nursing degree and a certificate in, or current enrollment in, an approved NSWOC Nursing Education Program.
- Possesses demonstrated experience in patient and family education, with a strong emphasis on clear, respectful, and compassionate communication.
- Exhibits the ability to function both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, ensuring effective communication and a supportive, professional work environment.
