Your Opportunity:

Under the Direction of the IPC Director, Calgary Zone and working in collaboration with the IPC Team, you will be responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of the IPC program at the Foothills Medical Centre.

New employees to the IPC program will be required to work all workdays at their assigned location on-site, for the first 6-12 months. Duration is determined by management.

Description:

As an Infection Prevention and Control Professional (ICP), you will be a patient safety expert who leads the planning, development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of system wide improvements in infection prevention and serves as a role model to promote the goals of the IPC program within the larger context of the vision and mission of AHS. You will facilitate change through interpretation and application of standards, and provide best practice recommendations across the spectrum of the organization with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes and preventing health-care associated infections (HAI).

Required Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, Microbiology, Epidemiology, or Public Health. Other clinical health-related baccalaureate or graduate degrees may be considered if curriculum content equivalency can be adequately demonstrated. Minimum of three years' experience in a clinical health care setting, or experience and proficiency in two of the following: patient care practice; microbiology and infectious diseases; or epidemiology and biostatistics. Active or eligible registration with the applicable regulatory college College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA), College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA), etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

The position requires leading teams for project work making experience in project and change management an asset. Experience working in an acute care environment. IPAC endorsed course.
