Opportunity

The “rural” 88-bed Long Term Care unit is located in the Drumheller Health Center. As a Health Care Aide (HCA) you will be a member of a nursing care team and interdisciplinary staff, providing client‑centered care to the elderly, including those with dementia. You will demonstrate genuine interest and respect for clients, support personal care and activities of daily living, encourage independence, and provide emotional support by listening and interacting positively.

• Assist clients with personal care and activities of daily living in accordance with their care plan.
• Support nurses in routine care to meet hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs.
• Participate in organized activities or programs and observe and report on patients’ mood, health, and wellbeing.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors while supporting communication with patients and health‑care professionals.
• Work under the supervision of a regulated health professional and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team across home, community, and health‑care facilities.
• Serve as a collaborative member of the team, providing personal assistance for short‑term or ongoing support in compliance with facility policies.

• Active or eligible for registration or practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) as a Health Care Aide.
• Proof of education or completion of a Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire.

Until a new hire provides proof of HCA certification, they will be paid at the uncertified pay grade in accordance with the AUPE AUX Collective Agreement.
