The Cardiac Diagnostics department within SHC is currently recruiting a Cardiology Technologist I. Reporting to the Unit Manager of Cardiac Diagnostics and Clinics, the Cardiology Technologist is responsible for the performance of various cardiac tests, understanding and recognizing the pathophysiology associated with these test results, and processing the resulting data. The Cardiology Technologist will demonstrate proficiency in performing electrocardiograms (ECGs), applying, processing and reviewing data associated with Holter and event monitors, using blood pressure monitors, and working collaboratively with practitioners to facilitate stress testing.

The candidate must possess strong intrapersonal skills, clear communication in stressful situations, and a meticulous attention to detail. They must comply with licensure requirements and legal legislation such as the Health Professions Act, FOIP, and the Health Information Act, and engage in continual professional development.

Prepare patients for non‑invasive cardiac testing, including Holter Monitoring, Exercise Tolerance Testing, and Ambulatory Monitoring; explain procedures and educate patients; collect patient history and document information for physicians; analyze and summarize test results and generate reports for physician interpretation; provide expertise in the set‑up, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment; implement resuscitation measures when necessary; precept, orient new staff and students;

contribute to the evaluation of cardiology trainees and students; serve as a clinical resource by providing information regarding cardiology technology to staff and patients.

• Completion of a certificate from an accredited school of Cardiology Technology.
• Active or eligible registration with the Alberta Society of Registered Cardiology Technologists (ASRCT).
• Active or eligible registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BCLS‑HCP).
• Exercise tolerance/stress testing experience within the last 2 years (equivalent to 0.5 FTE or greater).
• Experience performing stress testing associated with myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) within the last 2 years (equivalent to 0.5 FTE or greater).

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cardiology Technologist in an acute care setting within the past 3 years (equivalent to 0.5 FTE or greater).
• Experience with in the last 2 years related to the application, processing, and review of Holter and event monitors.
• Familiarity with IT systems: MUSE / GEMS, Cardio Day, Sentinel, Connect Care.
