Overview
The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist II leads, organizes, and directs the day‑to‑day operations of MRI and Nuclear Medicine services, ensuring that care is effective, efficient, and meets the highest standards. The technologist also serves as the Safety Officer, responsible for establishing and enforcing safety procedures within the MR environment.
Responsibilities- Act as a working supervisor responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of MRI services and provide technical assistance to staff.
- Organize and coordinate overall patient flow, including exam mix and weekly room schedules.
- Participate in direct patient care and be available for shifts that may include weekends or on‑call duties.
- Completion of a diploma from an accredited MRI Technologist Program recognized by the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT) or a certification from such a program plus a diploma from an accredited program in Medical Radiology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound), Nuclear Medicine, or Radiation Therapy.
- Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BCLS‑HCP).
- IV Certification and PICC line access.
- Leadership courses.
- At least three years of work experience in Diagnostic Imaging.
- Previous supervisory or management experience.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated interest in professional growth.
- Ability to demonstrate tact and courtesy when dealing with patients, staff, and physicians.
- Practice effective radiation protection and/or magnetic field safety techniques, if applicable.
Act as Safety Officer responsible for ensuring that all MRI safety procedures are in effect and strictly enforced.
