We are recruiting a Program Addictions Counsellor to support the treatment and success of youth in our care. This position develops, coordinates, facilitates, and evaluates addiction treatment programming. Working with the Program Manager and treatment team, the Program Addictions Counsellor delivers developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive programming focused on substance use, recovery, relapse prevention, coping skills, communication, healthy relationships, and problem-solving.

Duties include:
  • Developing and facilitating group programming using the Stages of Change model and other evidence-informed approaches.
  • Preparing and adapting content and activities to meet clients learning and developmental needs.
  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Documenting attendance, participation, progress, and concerns.
  • Participating in client progress meetings and sharing observations with the treatment team.
  • Supporting coping, communication, decision-making, relapse-prevention, and independent living skills.
  • Collaborating with staff to deliver cultural and practical skill-development programming.
  • Improving WBTC curriculum and programming.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications include:

Relevant certificate with three years of related experience, or a relevant diploma with one year of related experience. Experience developing and facilitating structured group programming is required. Candidates must communicate effectively, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate knowledge of First Nations cultures. A valid drivers licence, reliable transportation, and Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks are required.

Hours:

Monday to Friday, 9AM to 5PM.
