Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) needs someone like you for the role of Student Education Coordinator as we work to evolve our organization's Student Education team into a highly functioning provincial model. This Calgary based position reports to the Student Education Lead and in collaboration with the Quality Management System & Education Manager, the Student Education Coordinator coordinates student placements across laboratory sites, manages student onboarding processes and use of the learning management system.

The role acts as a centralized resource for clinical sites, post-secondary institutions and operational leaders in support of laboratory student education. The Student Education Coordinator works with a high degree of independence while collaborating within the provincial Student Education program providing support to sites, fostering and supporting relationships with students, post-secondary institutions and various provincial stakeholders.

Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) II, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations and the quality control function of the laboratory.

You may have advanced technical knowledge or are the lead responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of Laboratory Information System (LIS) support, site education, quality assurance or laboratory research programs. Your responsibilities may include coordinating, prioritizing, monitoring and assigning work to MLT l's, providing technical advice, problem solving and trouble shooting on a variety of laboratory instruments. In addition, you will participate in the technical aspects of the laboratory, ensuring the performance of standard and specialized procedures.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program.

Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional

Required Qualifications:

Three (3) years current experience working in a medical laboratory of significant size. Knowledge of student education training programs. Experience in preceptorship, laboratory safety, quality and accreditation requirements. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills required. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience working with a diverse group of stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of educational steps required to ensure student success. Demonstrated knowledge of CSMLS Competency Profiles. Organizational, analytical reasoning, troubleshooting and decision-making skills. Proven time management skills.
