Recreation Therapy Associate in Nova Scotia

Make an impact as a Recreation Therapy Associate at Nova Scotia Health, focusing on mental health and addictions. Support clients with therapeutic recreation interventions in various settings.

This is a full-time, temporary position reporting to the Health Services Manager and directed by the Recreation Therapist. You will engage in assessment, interventions, and the evaluation of recreation therapy services.

Your role also involves working with clients' leisure needs in both inpatient and outpatient environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in planning and evaluating therapeutic recreation programs

• Provide individualized interventions to clients

• Support evidence-informed therapy techniques in care settings

• Collaborate effectively with health care professionals

• Communicate effectively to motivate clients

Requirements:

• Post-secondary diploma in Therapeutic Recreation

• Standard First Aid and BCLS certification

• Experience with mental health and addictions is an asset

• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing needs

• Competency in French is preferred
