Description

The Department of X in the Faculty of X invites applications for a Position Title. This Full-time/Part-time Fixed Term/Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately x months/year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

The Clinical Research Coordinator will be based at the Colon Cancer Screening Centre (CCSC), Cal Wenzel Precision Health Building, University of Calgary, Foothills Campus. This position reports to the CCSC Director Research.

The Clinical Research Coordinator will be responsible for the organization and conduct of a clinical research study, including recruitment of participants, scheduling participant activities, data collection and data entry.

Summary of

Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
  • Coordinate and administer a clinical research project per established study protocol and procedure manuals
  • Coordinate participant recruitment across multiple clinics, care pathways, and recruitment strategies
  • Conduct consent discussions and obtain informed consent from participants
  • Contact participants, schedule research activities, conducting telephone and in clinic interviews and ensuring data is submitted accurately
  • Interview participants, enter data, and administer questionnaires
  • Provide guidance to participants regarding clinical sample collection
  • Assist in the collection, delivery, entry, verification, management, analysis and reporting of data
  • Responsible for maintaining ethical and confidentiality standards
  • Ensure relevant research methodology is applied, and proper handling of all research material is used
  • Build and sustain collaborative relationships with specialists and healthcare teams to support study enrolment goals
  • Travel to local study sites to collect, transport, and manage biospecimens in accordance with study protocols and regulatory requirements
  • Design, develop, and maintain study materials, including participant-facing documents, recruitment materials, and study protocols
  • Mentor, train, and support junior research staff, students, and trainees in study procedures, participant interactions, and data management practices
Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree in a relevant health related field (required)
  • Masters Degree (preferred)
  • 5 years of relevant clinical research experience (clinical trials, multicenter studies, registry studies) is preferred
  • Recognized research professional certification (e.g. CCRP, Certified Clinical Research Professional) an asset
  • Experience working with the public is a strong asset
  • Experience working in a post-secondary institution or hospital is an asset
  • Knowledge of health and scientific terminology is a strong asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs
  • Experience using REDCAP is a strong asset
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and the Tri-Council Policy Statement:
    Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS2) is required
  • Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to function independently and within a team environment are required
  • Knowledge of surgical pathways is an asset
  • Prior experience in a clinical or research environment in preferred, with demonstrated familiarity working in patient-facing or academic health settings
