The Opportunity:
The Occupational Therapy Aide works under the direction of the Occupational Therapist to help solve physical challenges that patients have with daily activities. They help to assist with implantation care plan, wheelchair adjustments and equipment inventory. They assist the therapist in providing additional training and education to residents in the communities in which they work
This position assists in assessing, planning, implementation, and ongoing delivery of therapy programs to encourage residents to function at their maximum potential. The key component to their job is repairs on wheelchairs/walkers and making adjustments to these to meet functional resident goals.
What You will Do:
• Provides assistance to the Occupational Therapist
• Monitors resident ability to participate in therapy intervention
• Prepares and maintains inventory of equipment and supplies and assists with maintenance programs (individual or group) as directed by the Therapist
• Provides repairs or modifications to resident equipment as needed
• Maintains infection control practice of treatment area and equipment
• Provides and distributes equipment as needed
• Participates in information sharing and communication
• Collects record and manage data in computer program
What You Will Need:
* Post-secondary education is an asset.
* Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
* Completion of a Rehabilitation Therapist Diploma.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with a diverse population.
* Prior experience in continuing care/gerontology preferred.
* Advocating for the role of occupational therapy to help improve the lives of residents.
* Willingness to provide a high level of client service to all demographics.
* A desire to help others with compassion and empathy.
