Recreation Therapist

Position: Recreation Therapist Role at AgeCare
Make a difference at Age Care as a Recreation Therapist, where you'll use recreation to optimize health for residents. Focus on assessing and executing engaging therapy activities.

As part of the Recreation Therapy team, your role involves assessing residents, developing treatment plans, and ensuring their involvement in appropriate leisure activities. Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team and families to communicate treatment goals effectively. Your leadership will support both resident enjoyment and functional improvements through tailored recreational programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess residents for recreation therapy needs

• Create and communicate individualized treatment goals

• Ensure resident participation in recreation programs

• Assist and direct Recreation Therapy Aides

• Document and report residents’ therapy outcomes

Requirements:

• Bachelor Degree or diploma in Recreation Therapy

• Eligible for Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association

• Experience in a healthcare setting preferred

• Proficiency in assessments and MDS preparation

• Excellent interpersonal skills with staff and families
