Wage range: $44.03 to $56.50+ an additional $9/hour CASA Classrooms premium

Vacation: 4.18 hours, accrued bi-weekly

CASA Mental Health Classrooms are CASA’s model for school-based mental health service. The program addresses the need for services closer to students by bridging a child’s mental health and school needs, through a coordinated approach by a mental health team and a teacher. CASA Mental Health Classrooms are delivered in partnership with the Government of Alberta, community partners and school divisions.

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments of assigned children and youth, and in conjunction with the primary team, develop individualized and family treatment plans.
• Develop a treatment plan and formulate a diagnosis, when applicable, using the DSM-5-TR or other diagnostic tools as appropriate.
• Provide therapeutic interventions to support the patient in achieving therapeutic goals utilizing a variety of developmentally-appropriate treatment approaches.
• Arrange and facilitate transition meetings with community schools prior to patient’s discharge from program.
• Complete written discharge summaries to referring Therapist and Psychiatrist after discharge to support continuity of care for patient and family.
• Be an active, contributing member of an interprofessional clinical team whose purpose is assessment, treatment, case review and consultation.
• Follow agency policy and practice regarding admission, discharge and maintenance of health records.
• Facilitate or co-facilitate Parent Support Groups and Multi-Family Therapy Groups. Groups are psycho-educational and/or psychodynamic in context, utilizing a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities (DBT, CBT, motivational interviewing, etc.).

• Demonstrated ability to practice culturally safe therapeutic interventions.
• Excellent assessment, treatment and case management skills.
• Training and clinical experience working with families and Children and Family Services will be an asset.
• Strong critical thinking skills.
• Knowledge and experience in cognitive behavioural therapy, family interventions and crisis intervention.
• Training and experience in dialectical behavioural therapy is considered an asset.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and independently, and to prioritize work activities.
• Demonstrated analytic and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work and to communicate in a cooperative and respective manner with all staff.
• Advanced skills with MS Office products including application to formal writing.

• Master’s degree in psychology, social work (with psycho-social intervention designation), occupational therapy or nursing.
• A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
• Member in good standing with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT), Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) or College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).
