We are seeking a dynamic Group Programmer to join the Alberta Children's Mental Health Patient Care Unit (ACH MHPCU), where you will be a cornerstone of our therapeutic programming. In this intentional and rewarding role, you will plan and facilitate psychosocial and recreational activities that support patients' recovery journeys.
Your day will be structured around therapeutic excellence, beginning with gathering key patient information, including diagnosis, behavioral triggers, and effective interventions, to ensure every group session is safe, inclusive, and tailored to individual needs. You will lead morning psycho educational groups targeting lagging skills such as communication, flexible thinking, and emotional regulation, using movement based activities and sports to activate gross motor skills and build social confidence.
You will also facilitate "Me Time" to provide purposeful choices and lead early evening "Leisure" sessions focused on grounding techniques to prepare patients for family engagement. Your documentation skills will be critical as you record daily activities and group dynamics for our two distinct cohorts. You will also help shape the therapeutic environment by maintaining supplies and proposing new content such as Internet safety, goal setting, or hygiene to ensure programming remains responsive.

As a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Assistant, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting therapeutic programming within an inpatient or day treatment mental health program. Under the guidance of a Clinical Supervisor, you will assist with implementing individual and group treatment plans for children and adolescents admitted to the mental health care unit. Your knowledge of child and adolescent development and therapeutic interventions is essential to providing safe, high-quality patient care.

Completion of a diploma in Social Work or Child and Youth Care, or a bachelor's degree in Psychology.
